If you're reading this, you probably know what to expect but here is my take !

As per the title, if you’re already looking at this device, you know what it can do.

The good news is, it plays games fantastically and I’m blown away that I can play games like Fallout 4 with mods at 60fps on a handheld device. This is the future and I be damned if it’s not good :)

I don't recommend you purchase the device expecting play the latest most demanding games without compromise but if like me you're happy a gen or so behind and looking to clear some titles from the backlog, you are going to be blown away !!

The controller inputs are solid. Really nice feel to the buttons, D-Pad and the sticks feel high quality (basically knocks spots off the likes of the Switch Joy-Cons and feel more akin to the Xbox / PS sticks).

Why the 4 stars, what do I dislike?

Ughhh the device can be a bit frustrating. The build quality is not great (I have wonky loose power button), the keyboard sometimes has a mind of its own but gets the job done and the most annoying thing of all is the fact that the controller if the device sleeps, doesn’t wake with it. This results in either having to constantly hibernate the device and or restart it each time you want to play.

Screen quality is good on the whole, very little light leak but just could be better.

The device / controller rumble is annoying and far from immersive as they claim. It's more like a mosquito than a rumble and I find it highly annoying so try to disable it in game wherever possible.

And that’s it.

The Pro’s far outweigh the cons for me personally but your mileage may vary. I am not disappointed with my purchase, I absolutely love the device with how niche, weird and powerful it is. As a general indication of what I can do / what I have been playing without issue:

Fallout 4, Skyrim (enhanced edition), Prey, Far Cry 5 and the more recently released Outer Worlds. All have worked great when you find their sweet spot and 60fps low to medium settings is not out of the question.

Emulation wise I have been playing Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX at X2 native resolution and they run full speed with no issues.

I genuinely believe that with some solid driver updates this device would be perfect but for now I have a few little irritations hence the 4 stars.

If like me handheld PC gaming has always been a dream, this is your jump off point. I have owned several niche devices in the past, this is the first that really does deliver and does what it says on the tin. Fallout 4 on the go at 60fps !!!!! I’m a happy man now go treat yourself.

Really nice handheld but it does have issues.

This handheld does have the hardware to run modern PC titles but having tried some games, I've encountered graphical issues! I tried earth defense force 5 and was greeted with an unplayable graphical mess, onscreen artifact graphics issues.
Call of duty WWii also has on screen graphical issues.
I've downloaded and installed the latest Intel Iris Xe graphics driver but this hasn't fixed Artifacting/garbled graphic issues.

The Win 3 seems amazing

I've been using the Win 3 for just short of a week now and it did take a fair bit of set up to get to the point I wanted it at but now I have it at that point it's a one stop portable gaming solution that covers all the bases while also being my primary desktop machine. Literally couldn't ask more of it it's an amazing little machine and having had issues with a modified steam machine being my last desktop I was reluctant to buy a steam deck on release so the win 3 seemed like a safer bet and GPD do seem to have a better track record with hardware than valve.

A few concerns I had before purchase where will It be comfortable which is is so much more comfortable to use than most reviews give it credit for my hands usually cramp up from using a switch for too long but the depth to the base of the win 3 makes it that much easier to hold.

Will battery life be long enough and as long as you Don't expect to be playing your AAA games on the go for hours on end the battery life is just fine.

Will the keyboard actually be usable now the keyboard is my least favourite feature but it is still very much usable to its credit it is a US standard qwerty which I didn't notice at first but it's as good as the keyboard on a phone so it's definitely usable even if a little less comfortable than a phone to reach properly

Powerful device, lacking quality control !

The GPD Win 3 is a very powerful device in a nice form factor with a nice gorilla glass screen... That's about it when it comes to the pro's. The big (!) con is that all forms of quality control seems lacking. It's prone to have issues. I had a bright spot in the screen of mine but since it's quite tiny and only visible in white / bright colors, I cba returning it... I just wonder not if, but when, I'll face one of the known issues like the ssd failing, mouse and/or keyboard controls stop working etc.

With such a high price, the quality should be a lot better!

Amazing handheld

Easily the best handheld in existence at the moment. Not really for kids unless they know their way around a pc but for big boys and girls this thing is crazy, better than my actual laptop. GTAV is smooth as anything, plays really well. I never thought I’d see the day where AAA games would run on a handheld. The only small and I say small concern is the little switch to change from game pad to mouse. Feels like it has to potential to break in time but it’s currently fine, just be gentle.

PC Games in your Pocket - almost ;)

First of all - I had a lot of handhelds in my 40 years of gaming experience. Exotic ones like the Atari Lynx, popular ones like Nintendo 3DS or PS Vita and last year I did get myself a Switch Lite. My GPD Win 3 is a total other caliber without wanting to make the others bad. But concerning quality of materials used and inside life of this little beast this is simply playing some leagues above. I did buy it in order to enjoy some games you just get for PC. And as I have simply no space for a PC and monitor - I already have the Playstation 4 and Xbox Series S connected to my TV - my decision was to get the GPD Win 3. And for me this one is the right choice. I love to feel the quality in my hands, I love the screen sliding up and using the keyboard and love to play atm American Truck Simulator. I think a lot more will follow but atm I'm totally fascinated with ATS. It looks amazing and compared with On the Road Next Generation Version on the Xbox Series S this one is also some leagues above. Fantastic Open world, super smooth gameplay and fantastic graphics despite playing not on the highest level. I could - but this shortens game time and the difference is not that big ..... so. Well think I gotta drive some miles again and wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :))

Great Item, I'd recommend deleting D: drive and expanding C: a.s,a,p, I've been mainly using an xbox controller for games, the built in controls work fine, although the analogue triggers, R1/2, reach full input in around a third of the overall travel in racing situations, have around 20 games installed and only skater xl is giving me any trouble, plays fine but there are graphical problems on most maps, the keyboard works for what it is, handy to have and cool to be able to hide it when not needed, seems to run cooler than my laptop, but it's a big fan on a small device, the docking station is a must, haven't tried hdmi etc but having it seated while charging and plugging a controller in is convenient, if this is going to be your only windows gaming device, it's a good option, would recommend.
