Win max 2 2025. Quality is on point, it works flawlessly. It is comfortable to hold and game on. Doesn't get too hot while gaming. Most people think it's a work laptop. Once my lte card arives I'll be able to use it anywhere

Several hits, one big miss (DOA)...

I'm giving my overall experience 2 stars because the customer service has been great so far (still waiting on an update though) and the hardware looked fantastic. Key word "LOOKED".

Short version: The GPD WIN MAX 2 (2025) was bricked on arrival. No lights, no charge indicator nothing. I'm not sure how this could happen (seems like a glaring Q/A issue) but seems to be common enough with GPD that it has me concerned (a quick google or reddit search will return a lot of results for this type of problem). During the return there were three reasons in the drop down for "return reason" and first one listed was "will not turn on". Yikes.

They paid return shipping and it is in the void now, no word on ETA for return of my RMA'd WIN MAX... A bit frustrating. After waiting for the backordered laptop (not knowing it was backordered) for 2 months then this happens. I'm in the USA so that complicates things, you know, like everybody I want it and I want it right now lol. The hardware was so nice in hand. Like I cannot express how nice this thing looked and felt. It was solid. And I like I said CS was great so far.

UPDATE 4/16/25: Received my replacement this past Saturday. I've been using it heavily and so far so good. This is such an awesome laptop and gaming device. I am playing Flight Sim 2020, Starfield, Minecraft, AOE4 all no problems. I haven't had time to set up emulation but I'm sure it will be awesome.

I increased my rating from 2 to 3 stars. Wish I could give it more. I have very little trust in the long term reliability of the product after it came in DOA the first time. Also my replacement appeared to be a previously opened and possibly repaired unit. Hard to say but the unboxing was not as clean as the first one.

All said if you want/need one of these buy it, there is no competition for it. Ultimately I would do it again.

Bad quality, or bad design

This is my first experience with GPD products.
I purchased the Win Max 2 (2025) 64GB/2TB version. I received after waiting several weeks, I pre-ordered it, so the waiting time is not part of this review.
I'm quite upset, disappointed and frustrated for the overal poor quality of this device. At almost each reboot, my device is showing just a black screen and I cannot operate. I need to force shutdown the machine, wait like 10 minutes and then turn on again. This is absolutely not acceptable.
If this is the compromise that I need to accept to work with this device, I cannot digest the high price of sell. There should be a consistency between the quality of the machine and the product performance.
This ratio is absolutely not achieved and this is the reason for 1 star rating.

Excellent little machine

Good device, great support

I've had the Win Max 2 for a few weeks now, and I have to say it meets all expectations. I don't think I've even scratched the surface of what this little powerhouse is capable of. It's probably not perfect for everyone, but if youre here reading the reviews and you're on the fence, It's probably what you're hoping for.

But, here's the real reason I'm even bothering to write this review, DROIX support has been amazing. Vikram on their support team made my weekend so much better by almost instantly providing me some technical help. This Win Max 2 2025 is a little different than the 2024, and not every quirk is worked out. There's videos and guides all over for the 2023/2024 models, but the DROIX support seems to have some deeper knowledge on the 2025 than most folks on the internet have figured out yet. You have my sincere thanks, and a new fan.

So, if you want a cool, functional, well designed, and most importantly, well supported device. Here's where you buy it from.

Could not be happier

Just amazing. I have tried the ally x, legion go and steam deck. Nothing compares. Going to sell my laptop and get a dock to oculink to an external gpu. The only gripe I have is that ghost of tsushima won't run. I went to the discord and everyone on there agreed it just isn't supported well on this system. It just keeps crashing. Once that gets an update or something, I will be completely satisfied.

Can anyone give advice on whether this computer will support more than just super basic functionality of the below applications? Ableton Live, Blender. Is it a combination of RAM and GPU that contribute to the smooth use of these applications, or is it something more?

Music Production, Ableton Live - I will produce music with several dozen channels, running sometimes multiple instances of heavy VSTs like Native Instruments. I would hook up my FocusRite Audio Interface for audio drivers.

Blender - 3D Modeling - Amateur 3D Design/Modeling. I don't get too heavy into shading/lighting, more just modeling for the purpose of bouncing STLs to 3D print. Can I expect to be able to dabble in animation/lighting stuff with this computer?

Ultrawide 34" curved monitor - I am currently using an MSI Optix MAG341CQ. Can I expect this computer to operate smoothly with such a large monitor?

I wasn't planning on splurging on the Oculink. However, can I still connect to a portable hard drive? I'm guessing the answer is yes, with less than Oculink's speed, but I just want to be sure.
