GPD WIN Mini 2025 Gaming Handheld PC

I wanted a gaming handheld to play heavily modded Factorio and this form factor and size is ideal. Got the HX 370 flavour and I could not be happier. Playing multiplayer and with Youtube running in the background for some music, I am getting flawless performance and 3 hours of battery life.

I have been waiting for a device like since since I had a Game Gear as a kid. The form factor makes it ideal to just slip into my cargo pants without having to worry about a carrying case or damaging anything.

My next test, getting a nice 3000+ size modded Skyrim up and running and seeing what the APU can really handle.

The shopping experience was simple and the shipping was quick. I am very pleased overall and absolutely recommend both the device itself and the company.

Could not be any happier/impressed with this thing. Ive used and loved several GPD devices before but this? This is the one. i have wanted a pocketable, clamshell, device with vrr support and a full size m.2 ssd slot for so damn long. Oh and I feel so damn validated in that request after this, I installed a 8tb ssd in that thing and have roughly 280 games downloaded on it. (I use Bazzite os to make it more consol like)Oh and that processor runs them all like I'm on my desktop, scaled down in several respects, resolution and the like but the fact that I'm comparing them at all is still crazy to me. It's just such an overkill unit of a PC that fits in my pocket and I couldn't be happier.

The amount of power in a device this small is astonishing. Keep it at 15w so it doesn’t get too hot. If you’re someone who wants to run this chip at 20W or higher there are better devices for that. This is about portability and size. AND VRR!!! Makes such a difference

I like my 15.6 inch laptop. It has an 8th gen i7 and a 1440p screen. But, when it came to gaming it couldn't keep up with this portable machine. I like playing forza on this computer and it's portable enough that I can take it in my pocket to work when I want to order doordash. It's also powerful enough that I could use it as my main pc if I really wanted. Well worth the money for anybody considering buying one.

Device died after 1 hour. Sent it back and have delivery confirmation from DHL but droix cannot even confirm they received it almost week ago .So waiting without money or device.Never ordering again

The GPD Win Mini 2024 is my second GPD Win machine I bought from Droix - the first being the Win Max 2 6800u. As before, it was delivered timely and comes with that warranty just in case something happens.

As for the Mini, I think it is a near perfect machine (at least with the tech available today). The Win Max was great with the larger screen (and all the storage and expansion options), but it was too big to be "pocketable" and honestly just by going a little larger you can get a full laptop experience (without the game pad controls of course). With the Max, I would just use my Steam Deck more often.

However, the Mini is great! It is unbelievable how small this thing is in person - depending on what I wear, it can actually fit in my pocket! The keyboard is very blackberry-ish but really not that bad. Not sure if I would write a novel with it, but it is very usable and I did some coding with it.

As for battery life and fan noise - definitely use the Motion Control app (or similar) to make changes. For the most part I use 8w to extend battery for normal PC things and then increase it if needed for gaming. And the fan noise is a bit high and the default profile runs faster than needed. I put the Mini in mode Fan 1 in Motion Control and it tames that whine. In battery life, the Deck OLED wins hands down but the Mini isn't too bad. For normal everyday tasks out and about Windows estimates around 5 hours or so. Gaming will definitely reduce that, depending on your wattage. So expect 1.5+ hours or so if ramping up the wattage.

Windows itself isn't too bad - just wish they had a reliable sleep mode. I've changed everything to hibernate so you don't find the Mini awake in your bag making a lot of heat and wasting battery. That is one area where the Steam Deck absolutely wins - just tap the power button and you get reliable sleep. Also, the Deck wins on the built in performance controls and overlays. With the Mini, you need to install other apps, hope you get the right versions working together, customize a bit, and finally you can get similar controls. This is more on Windows than the Mini, but would be nice to have something more all-inclusive from GPD. I know ASUS has a pretty good one for the Ally (comparatively) that has settings for overlays, power controls, etc. I have not tried the Droix sponsored app (Handheld companion I think is the name) yet as I have everything working so don't want to mess anything up.

As for the Mini display - I don't notice and backlight bleed and the 120hz and VRR is very nice! Alongside the Steam Deck OLED, it loses out on colors and contrast but honestly it isn't that big a gap especially considering 120hz and VRR.

Finally, the Mini controls... they are pretty good considering the size. The Deck wins out, especially as there is more range in the joysticks, but its practically twice the size. The joysticks on the Mini feel better than the ROG Ally - the Ally's just didn't have enough resistance so always felt a little weird.

Outside of the power/overlay controls and the sleep functionality, my biggest wish for the Min was some sort of Windows Hello support - either (reliable) thumbprint or face. That would make it so much easier when starting up.

Overall, I am very pleased with this. It really is a very powerful, very portable PC that you can bring with you practically everywhere to do the things your phone can't. Plus my experience with Droix has been great! I haven't had the need yet to use them for support, but I have the peace of mind that Droix is there.

this tiny UMPC is exactly what I could have wanted in an ultra mobile PC and gaming handheld. Most other reviews you see online are true - it can run a little toasty on your thumbs especially running at 16+ TDP for more than 20 minutes, and it's not the most ergonomic friendly device there is. But if you go in knowing what you want and with a clear idea of how you'll be using the device, it's absolutely incredible. Typing feels good on it in a pinch (thumb-typing) and the keys are more responsive than you'd expect. Touchscreen and touchpad are also top-notch. Just an overall fun experience. I HIGHLY recommend installing Handheld Companion if you purchase it. It pairs really well with the win mini, and I've personally set up the controller for not just gaming but productivity and for surfing the web. IMO it makes for a way more seamless experience.

Got the 7640u version and I've been blown away with the performance especially since my last handheld was the very first gpd win 1!

I thought I'd stress it out and loaded up fallout 76 at low settings and 1080p and got 30 fps lows but usually 40+ fps at 15 watts!

I've been playing more games on this over my full blown desktop and messing a vr headset and while not perfect it's way better than I was expecting!

Build is pretty good just have to get used to the analog sticks compared to my full sized controllers.

Battery life has been decent where I'm usually getting 2 hours at worse on more graphically intense games and 7 hours on ps1 emulation!

It's a little bit bigger than the first gpd win handheld but I'd say it's for the better and it's cargo pant pocketable still!
