Ryzen 9 HX 370 vs Ryzen 7 8840U Gaming Performance Test

We’re running Call of Duty Black Ops 6 at both 1080P and 720P resolutions on default Minimal graphics settings, without FSR upscaling, and with 100% rendering resolution. To ensure fairness, all devices are set to a TDP of 28W.
At a 1080P resolution, the GPD DUO (HX 370) stands out as the top performer, delivering 68 frames per second (FPS). This is a 31% boost over the GPD WIN 4 2024 (8840U), which achieved 51 FPS, and a 30% increase over the ONEXPLAYER X1 Mini, which scored 48 FPS. Interestingly, the GPD WIN MAX 2 (8840U) performed similarly well at 52 FPS, only about 24% below the DUO. The GPD WIN MINI 2024, meanwhile, trails with 46 FPS—marking a 48% difference from the DUO’s performance, underscoring the Ryzen 9’s ability to maintain higher FPS at 1080P for those aiming for a smoother experience.
At 720P resolution, all devices show significant FPS increases, with the GPD DUO once again leading the pack at 107 FPS. This represents a 27% increase over the next-best performer, the GPD WIN MAX 2, which hit 85 FPS. The GPD WIN 4 followed closely at 84 FPS, still around 28% below the DUO. The ONEXPLAYER X1 Mini achieved 79 FPS, about 35% lower than the DUO, while the GPD WIN MINI recorded 75 FPS, showing a difference of 42%. These improvements at 720P across the devices make it a strong option for users who want smoother gameplay on a lower resolution, while still enjoying a high FPS.

In summary, the GPD DUO (HX 370) stands out as the best performer in both 1080P and 720P resolutions, consistently achieving FPS rates 24-48% higher than its Ryzen 7 counterparts. This substantial difference underscores the GPD DUO as the go-to handheld for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and other demanding titles, providing top-tier gameplay without the need to compromise on resolution or quality settings.
